Communities Activities Fund for Galway City

Galway City Council through the Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) invites applications for funding from interested community groups within the Galway City administrative area under a new scheme called Community Activities Fund (CAF).

The scheme is being administered by Galway City LCDC on behalf of the Department of Rural and Community Development, with the total funding allocated to Galway City under the scheme being €264,910.

Galway City Hall

The Community Activities Fund (CAF) is about giving a helping hand to our communities, local groups and clubs impacted by Covid-19. These grants will help support groups, particularly in disadvantaged areas, with their non-pay running costs such as utility bills (electricity costs, refuse charges, heating charges) and other non-pay operating costs such as existing rental/lease costs, insurance bills. Groups will also be able to use the funding to carry out necessary repairs and improvements to their facilities, purchase equipment such as tables and chairs, tools and signage, laptops and printers, lawnmowers, canopies and training equipment.

Under the programme the LCDC will ring-fence some funding to provide small grants of €1000 or less, which will allow a larger volume of those with limited resources to receive some funding.

This funding is aimed at addressing disadvantage and applications should relate to one or more key priority areas identified in the Galway City Local Economic & Community Plan 2015 – 2021 which can be viewed online here
